Why it works

Most bookmarks are hopes, not references. Sorting them forces the distinction, which usually ends with 80% of bookmarks deleted and 20% actually usable — the same pattern as closets.

Best for

  • A rainy Sunday afternoon
  • When you can't find a link you remember saving

Variations

  • Use folders only for categories you actually browse ('Reading queue', 'Recipes') — skip 'Misc' folders.
  • If you haven't opened a bookmark in 12 months, delete it.

Frequently asked

What about all my 'read later' articles?

Most of them won't be read later. Keep the 5 most recent, delete or archive the rest. The guilt lifts with the list.
